Florida Medicaid Now Covering Breast Pumps
|The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) recently announced that electric breast pumps will now be added to the Medicaid Durable Medical Equipment (DME) schedule as a covered benefit for new mothers. View the current fee schedule online (pumps are under codes E0603 and E0604 on pages 6-7).
The best way to ensure widespread access is for providers to work with Medicaid-enrolled expecting mothers to request pumps from Medicaid managed care plans ahead of delivery. If access to a pump is denied, AHCA has requested providers call 1-877-254-1055 or file a complaint online.
In addition, AHCA will host a full-day workshop before the end of the year to provide opportunity for public comment and gather feedback. FHA will share more information on the date and time of the workshop as it becomes available.
