Healthy Families

Healthy Families

is funded by Healthy Families Florida through The Ounce of Prevention. It is a voluntary program for parents like you who are expecting a baby or have a newborn. The Healthy Families program focuses on prenatal services, parental and developmental services for families, and for children from birth through age five. The program emphasizes positive parenting practices that foster home health, safety and developmental enrichment.

The first step is to complete a Healthy Start screen. Two Healthy Start screens are made available to you and your baby at no charge. The first is offered at your prenatal care provider’s office. The second screen is offered at the hospital after your baby is born. If you are not offered the Healthy Start screen, ask for it or call Healthy Families at (386) 947-2446 or toll free at 1 (866) 301-2066.

The screen is a simple one-page questionnaire that you fill out with your doctor, nurse, or midwife. Information from the screen can help you get the care, support and services you need to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. The answers to these questions are strictly confidential. If you are not offered the Healthy Start screen, ask for it or call one of the numbers listed in this brochure.
